When you configure objective cycles, you can add an approval stage for each objective type. If enabled, when an employee creates or completes an objective, their manager is prompted to accept or reject it. You can also customise the statuses employees use when updating objective progress.

Set up the workflow

To create the workflow, follow the steps below.

  1. From the dashboard menu, click Talent Dashboard.

  2. Click Objective cycles.

  3. Next to the relevant objective cycle, click the three-dot menu.

  4. Select Edit then skip to step two of the wizard, titled Types.

  5. Next to the relevant type, click the three-dot menu.

  6. Select Options then click the Key Fields tab.

  7. Turn on the Custom Workflow and Statuses indicator.

  8. Click Workflow & Status Setup.

  9. Complete the steps in the wizard then click Save.

Approval stages

To configure the approval stages, enable or disable the indicators on the following questions:

  • Do you want the manager to approve the key fields before the employee can start working on the objective?

  • Do you want to open up the key fields for the employee after approval?

  • Do you want the manager to approve the final objective?

Workflow statuses

You can customise the standard workflow statuses by updating their display names. You can't deactivate these system statuses, but you can enter a new name in the Custom Description field to change how they appear to users.

Objective statuses

You can also assign a group of custom workflow statuses to the objective type. When an objective is in progress, employees can update progress by selecting a status from the list provided.

  1. From the drop-down menu, select the relevant group.

  2. Review the statuses displayed on screen.

  2. Enter a title then, from the Rating Type drop-down menu, select Status.

  3. Click Add Status then configure your status details:

    • To set the display order, enter a numeric rating.

    • To set the display name, enter a description.

    • From the drop-down menu, select a colour.

    • Turn on the Active toggle.

  4. Click OK then, once you've added all statuses, click Save.

  1. Click Manage Statuses.

  2. Next to the relevant group, click the three-dot menu.

  3. Select Edit then, for the relevant status, click Edit Status.

  4. Enter the rating, description, and colour.

  5. If required, turn off the Active toggle.

  6. Click OK then click Save.
